The Chiropractic Approach

As chiropractors, we have been trained to examine and treat our patients as a whole. We not only focus on treating any immediate symptoms presented, but also work to determine why you are experiencing those symptoms. This knowledge will help decrease your healing time, and will help us work together in achieving an optimal state of health for your body. Therefore, our new patient exams are very thorough and will most likely include:

1. A complete health history
-Past medical history which provides the doctor with vital information in diagnosing the patient's condition and determining the most effective treatment protocol. The doctor will focus on: Highlighting past trauma/surgeries/illnesses that may have a lasting influence on the body's ability to function, and current medications/allergy information will allow the doctor to make the best possible recommendations regarding dietary changes and supplements.
-Family health history is a great indicator predisposing factor to a variety of health conditions. Armed with this information, lifestyle changes and screening recommendations can be made to help prevent conditions commonly affected by others in the patient's family.
-Social history allows the doctor to gain insight regarding potential emotional factors that may be propagating or, in rare cases, causing the patient's discomfort.

2. Physical Examination
-The patient is examined from head to toe in order to identify signs of underlying disease, evaluate joint structure/function/stability, and evaluate muscle balance and neurologic function. Exams may include any or all of the following: neurologic exam, orthopedic exam, chiropractic joint palpation, X-ray/CT/MRI referral, gait analysis, and soft tissue palpation.

3. Treatment
-Our therapy will be delivered in a variety of manual or modality based methods depending on the nature of the condition and the previous health history of the patient. Some of our treatment protocols may include chiropractic manipulation, soft tissue manipulation/deep massage, stretching/strengthening of muscle groups, therapeutic modalities (heat, cold, sound, electricity, and light), nutritional counseling, and/or supplement recommendations.
-Manual/Modality therapy can be used to treat the following:
                -Headaches
                -Neck pain
                -Back pain
                -Sciatica
                -Shoulder/Rotator cuff dysfunction
